Swallow me whole
Take my soul
And leave nothing but the cage that’s kept my beating heart from spilling out onto the floor.
I would rather be engulfed by words of criticism
Stoned by the judgements of others than bite my own tongue or withhold my truth.
Bravery is but an easy facade to build
And I shall send it smashing to pieces with the vulnerability and honesty
Of a real human being.
Something stirs within–a soft light, faint glow of hazy hope
That gently whispers
“There’s change in the wind.”
