Today and every day leading up to it
had been overcast,
a hazy heaviness,
a dreary reminder that unfinished tasks
and words left unspoken were still in need of attention.

And when the first droplet fell from the sky above,
the future quickly vanished,
washed away by the approaching storm.

let it happen, she spoke quietly,
I need a soaking rain
