it is cloudy, but the sun still shines.

The persistence of the rain
tap, tap, tapping on the roof,
washing over the windows,
melting the remains of winter into mere reflections of how quickly seasons change.

It is an overcast sky for miles
and with spring fighting for its rightful place,
the battle between light and dark rages on
as thunder and lightening illuminate the clouds.

Tiny blades of grass peek out
from underneath the muddied snow.
I hold my breath as waves of storms
try and drown new life in the wake of its destruction.

But as relentless as this struggle may be,
as unforgiving and treacherous as Mother Nature appears,
as critical as I may be on my darkest of days,
the sun always shines in the end.
